Minnesota Homeschool Testing

At Homeschool Boss, we provide the MAP® Growth™ tests, which are an excellent way of meeting the Minnesota homeschool testing requirements. MAP Growth is a nationally recognized test that evaluates student growth. At Affordable Homeschool Testing Services LLC, we offer MAP Growth tests in reading, math, and language usage (optional). We use the 2015 norms and the same version of MAP Growth tests currently in use in schools across the country. The untimed, web-based tests are taken on your laptop, iPad, or Chromebook and administered remotely by Homeschool Boss. There is no degree requirement for parents.

Minnesota Homeschool TestingIt is common for students to start their reading test on Monday, math on Tuesday, language usage on Wednesday and receive the testing results within 1-2 days (no later than Friday).

Computer-adaptive MAP Growth assessments reveal which academic areas the student is proficient in and what they’re ready to be educated on next. MAP Growth assessments are grade independent and adapt to each student’s performance level. Every item on a MAP Growth assessment is anchored to a vertically aligned equal interval scale, called the RIT scale for Rasch UnIT—a stable measurement, like inches on a ruler, that covers all grades.

And because the measurement is reliable and accurate, RIT scores serve as an essential data point in a student’s learning plan; educators can see a student’s precise learning level and respond accordingly.

MAP Growth creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student’s learning level—precisely measuring the performance and growth of each individual. You’ll have essential information about what each student knows and is ready to learn within the week.

When filling out your letter of intent, the test name is: “NWEA MAP Growth test”. The administrator and location are: “Affordable Homeschool Testing Services LLC, my home” (if you plan for your child to test somewhere other than your home, list that location instead). If you choose to take advantage of aid for non-public students, we are happy to provide a receipt to allow you to receive reimbursement for testing fees.

If you have already submitted your paperwork for the year listing another test, we recommend you contact your superintendent or homeschool liaison to inform them that you are planning to use MAP Growth instead.
